Chair: Pablo Motta, MD
Purpose
The purpose of developing an Adult Congenital Heart Disease Special Interest Group of the Congenital Cardiac Anesthesia Society (CCAS) is to provide a forum for CCAS members to focus on the unique challenges of perioperative management of adult patients with CHD. Ideas developed from the group will be shared with all CCAS members.
Goals
The primary goal of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Special Interest Group will be to develop and share ideas of how to best take care of adults with CHD who present for cardiac and non-cardiac procedures. The group will identify the unique challenges of adult CHD patients and develop resources for CCAS members including recommendations and guidelines. With approval and support from CCAS, research projects may be developed to better understand perioperative care of this cohort. This group may also collaborate with groups within other anesthesiology societies with similar interests, such as the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists (SCA) or the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology (SOAP).
