Call for Nominations: CCAS Membership Recruitment, Retention, and Engagement Committee

The CCAS Board of Directors established the Membership Recruitment, Retention, and Engagement Committee to lead efforts in strengthening membership and promoting active engagement within the CCAS and the broader congenital cardiac anesthesia community. The committee is responsible for encouraging membership, reviewing and evaluating member benefits, and making recommendations to the Board as needed. It also fosters member engagement and collaborates with other CCAS committees to advance the Society’s mission. In partnership with the PCAPD Committee, this committee also supports trainee engagement and maintains an up-to-date list of active CCAS fellowship training programs.

We are currently seeking seven new members to join the Membership Committee. Members will be selected by the committee chair from a pool of nominees and volunteers, with the goal of representing the diverse spectrum of professionals who care for patients with congenital heart disease. The committee will include:

  • A balance of senior and junior physicians
  • One trainee member
  • One allied health professional (e.g., perfusionist, CRNA, AA, NP)
  • At least one international member (based outside the United States)

All members must be active or affiliate members of CCAS in good standing. The term of service is two years.

If you are interested in serving on the committee, or if you would like to nominate a colleague who is eager to contribute to our Society, please submit your nomination and the following information to [email protected] by Friday, September 19, 2025.

  • First and Last name of the candidate
  • Institution
  • Short paragraph explaining candidates interest in the committee (including the most beneficial aspect of CCAS membership)
  • Candidate CV

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

CALL FOR CHiP NETWORK JOURNAL WATCH REVIEWERS

The Communications Committee is seeking CCAS members to serve as journal article reviewers for the CCAS/Congenital Heart International Professionals (CHiP) Journal Watch Collaborative. Through this collaboration, we contribute a few article reviews a year to the network, which are published on the CHiP Network website. These reviews are also featured in our CCAS Newsletter which will be posted on the CCAS Website. We invite you to provide your expert insights and perspectives to this joint venture.

If you would like to contribute, please contact the CHiP Network Article Review Editors Dr. Amy Fang, at [email protected] and Dr. Rebecca Hamilton at [email protected].

CALL FOR PROGRAM CO-CHAIR

Are you interested in being part of the team that plans CCAS’s annual national meeting? Do you want to be more involved in your Society? What could you bring to the team?

The CCAS Education Committee is looking for Program Co-Chairs to work in tandem with the meeting Program Chairs and Program Shadows to plan the educational programs for the CCAS 2026 Annual Meeting.

Eligibility Guidelines:

  • Availability to participate in planning meetings (Zoom) and email communication with planning team members
  • CCAS Member in good standing (trainee members not eligible)
  • Approval from your division/department leadership to serve in the role (time commitment)
  • Members who have previously served as SPA, CCAS, or SPPM Program Chair are not eligible

Expectations:

  • The position will require a 4-year commitment, advancing through: Junior Co-Chair, Senior Co-Chair, Program Chair, Immediate Past Chair/Webinar Director.
  • The Co-Chairs will be responsible for assisting the Chair with Moderator Coordination (Junior Co-Chair), Workshop and PBLD coordination (Senior Co-Chair).

  • The planning team will report to the CCAS Vice President/Education Chair.
  • The Chair will assist the Immediate Past Chair with biannual webinar planning.

This represents an ideal opportunity for faculty who are interested in getting more involved in the Congenital Cardiac Anesthesia Society.

Interested candidates should submit a one-page statement and CV to Jenny Patterson at [email protected] no later than April 21, 2025. The statement should outline your reason for wanting to be a Program Co-Chair, as well as your experience/service within CCAS (or other organization).
